Get ready for a very fast changing year in social media. Twitter, Blogging, Podcasts, Face Book, You Tube, 4G Networks, and others….oh my! Some 24/7 targeted marketing trends to look for in 2010:
* Real time is too slow now, you need an additional edge. Your customer will choose and move around the net to find what content they are looking for. Find a way to make it easy for them to understand your brand and find answers. Your content message should be about what you can do for them…………Be quick, agile, and flexible in your messaging. Use at least 4 reach venues (i.e. Twitter, blog, etc).
*You Tube is very, very powerful! Why aren’t you there yet?, chicken? Integrated video speaks volumes and can go viral in a heartbeat! Make sure it is consistent with your social media brand campaign.
* Who is your customer? In visiting with some very high powered Marketing gurus this week, I asked them a simple question; “who is your customer”? Surprisingly some could not answer this in a clear statement. You need to get this right in 2010 or you will miss opportunities in the ever increasing “blink of an eye”.
* Are you relevant? There is a reason Twitter and others only allow 140 spaces. If it takes more time, they are gone!
* Are you still a legacy “shotgun”? Be a rifle shot! Where are your customers on line? Engage them where they are, study your websites landing pages etc., there is a reason they are looking there. What other sites, blogs, etc are they hanging out at? Find their on line neighborhoods, go get ‘um. It’s about math………math……..math, and proactive hard work and flexibility.
* Lean on your on-line advocates. Have interactive comment sections, talk to them; build your story through positive advocates. Welcome occasional problems that you fix immediately; be inclusive. Your program will go viral and build your brand in a way that is “real”. Connect now and stay engaged with your community, they will help you like no other!
